Swapping Textbooks for audiobooks : 11 practical ways to read as a student

I don’t know about you ,but from a young age I’ve always enjoyed reading anything  from books and comics to even the most mudane things (I may be know to read the back of  cereal packets) but as time has creeped on I have found myself reading less and less.As life (and studying)plies on top of me ,as a student I find it easy to forget to take time to rest , relax and rejuvenate - which I often do by reading. However ,as the natural reader I am I have managed to compile a list of 11 ways which I use to help find time to read(accompanied by a picture of my admittedly random TBR)

1.Here ,there ,everywhere
One of the things that has helped me massively is having a book on my wether I’m going to school or on a long car journey having a book at hand makes it much easier to find time -try and enhance your inner Rory Gilmore!

2.Find a place , find a time
Personally, the second I’m come home from going out I’m wiping out my phone- but the good news is this one is an easy change to make.Designating certain parts of the day to read (ie after school or before bed)can help build healthy reading habits

3.Have a physical TBR
Now,I know many who read on kindle /other e-readers may not be able to implement this tip I still find it useful. It really helps me when I can visually see what I can read

4.Do books your way
The best way to read books is your way - wether that’s highlighting and annotating ,spine cracking ,sketching in the margines or keeping your books pristine interacting more with your books helps elevate your experience

5.Socalise bookishly
Wether you just wat to chat about the latest book or you want to have deep soul to soul analytical conversations chatting with friends about books is a great way to see new perspectives on books as well as strengthening your bond as friends. If you don’t have any book lover friends try joining a book club.

6.The phone doesn’t have to be your enemy
If you don’t have loads to time to read you can always consume online book content - it’s a great way to interact with your hobby and others

7….but sometimes it is the enemy
I alwwways get distracted by my phone when reading - try charging your phone elsewhere or having a phone free zone yo give yourself some space.

8.Chunk it
In today’s busy world it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and busy all the time -try organising certain times /days which are just for reading and relaxing

9.LIBARY LIBARY
Libraries are a wonderful resource for readers as not only are they free books (yayyy) but they also have a dead line meaning you won’t spend forever reading them.

10.Kill the reading list
While they can be useful ,reading lists either from school or online can suck the fun out of reading really fast.

11.Read on the go
Try listening to audio books while commuting or bring a book with you on public transport - you save so much dead time

I hope this was helpful - happy reading ! 📚
