Such charming liars review

Another day ,another day book and today we are going to break into such charming liars by Karen.M.McManus.

When Kat’s mum Jamie is a jewel thief trying to go straight ,she has one final job to complete at Billionaire, Ross Sutherland’s Birthday party. However when Liam and his serial scammer farther who hasn’t seen Jamie since their  48 hour Vegas marriage ,reappear Liam and Kat don’t know who to trust. In a web of elaborate schemes ,they find themselves caught between the killers crosshairs .

Usually,I really enjoy Karen.M.McManu’s work and after reading her series ‘one of us is lying ‘,however I have to say that after reading this stand-alone I was very underwhelmed especially by the plot.

The book had a relatively complicated plot which in and of its self isn’t necessary a bad thing however I felt that parts of it were badly explained or felt just a little to unbelievable .To add to this issue ,the pacing through the book was slow even as the actual plot picked up in interest -this made it really hard to pick up the book as it felt like I was forcing myself to read it (as by the this point I had invested so much time into it and I refuse to not finish books)

However ,there were some good parts to this book as I very much enjoyed the characters we were introduced to and the way that the interacted. The character development was good although again due to the pacing I did struggle to care as much about each individual character .

The book is narrated from a split perspective meaning that every other chapter is narrated by a different chracter. While this is an interesting technique for murder mystery style books to help explore the plot I did find that at times it really killed the pace.It also did not help that each narration style that the characters had where very similar and essentially blended into one making it even harder to follow what was happening when.

Overall not a bad book ,just a forgettable one .
